How To

Fit A

Shoe

  1. Does it slip at the heel? A shoe shouldn't slip when the child is walking or be able to easily pull the shoe off the foot.

  2. Foot length – there should be a finger (1cm) width growing room from the longest toe to the top of the shoe.

  3. Foot width – the distance from the base of their 1st and 5th toe is the widest section of the foot. There should be no bulging of the 5th toe at the side of the shoe and there should be little excess material creating too much movement.

  4. Toe Box depth - you shouldn't be able to pinch the material at the top of the toe box. You can also get the child to walk to see if there is any creasing. If you do see too much creasing then there is too much depth in the shoe.
